The main path to membership for beginners is via our beginners course which we currently hold the classroom section
(7 2 hour sessions) each autumn and spring; followed by an apiary session in the springtime (mid to late April) each year.
Membership for a calendar year is paid as part of the course fee
(i.e. the autumn beginners membership runs for the following year).
There is also an optional (with a fee) preliminary exam – held usually in May – which you need to complete
if you want to progress through the examination ladder.
We also take membership from beekeepers with some experience who are moving from another area,
who would like to change their club, former members who may have lapsed in their membership,
as long as they have either experience, education, memberships or other merits to
bypass our beginners course. This is decided on a case-by-case basis.
