Preliminary Information
This is the 67th Annual Summer Course run by the Federation of Irish Beekeepers’ Associations and the 53rd to be held at the Franciscan College Gormanston, Co. Meath.
Over the years it has been the practice to invite a speaker of international renown as guest speaker at the course.
The guest speaker in 2013 will be Flemming Vejsnæs from Denmark.
Flemming is employed by the Danish Beekeepers Association.
This beekeeping course is internationally renowned attracting upwards of 400 beekeepers annually from all parts of the world. The course caters for all levels of beekeeping and has a wide range of lectures and workshops, catering for the total beginners as well as the experienced enthusiast.
As well as lectures and workshops there are hands on practical demonstrations at hives.
The National Honey Show with over 40 classes, attracting a large number of entries is held during the week.
Attendees are afforded the opportunity to sit the various examinations in beekeeping if they wish. There are many other events including table quiz, monster social night and also access to the College Golf Course and swimming pool.For those wishing to attend, there is campus accommodation available at very reasonable cost or if you wish you may attend as a day visitor
